As part of the preparations for the YMCA World Challenge in Cameroon, the National Executive Committee has set up a National Organizing Committee (NOC) headed by the young Billy Romual FEZEU, Vice President of the Messassi Local Union in Yaounde. Some of his impressions were collected concerning the organization of this event.
What are your impressions of the preparations At the National Level?
We would like to thank the National Executive Committee of C-YMCA for choosing us as the head of the National Organizing Committee for this great historical event in our movement.
Concerning the preparations of this edition of World Challenge, we are rather satisfied with their progress at the level of the National Organizing Committee. We have already targeted the actions to be carried out locally and we are evolving to 75% with the mobilization and internal communication of the movement. We invite to this effect the YMCA branches and Local Unions to really follow the lead in terms of mobilization and local communication, because we all know that the Challenge is Global but the actions are and remain Local
What are actually the actions to be carried out in the localities in this edition of the YMCA World challenge?
It all depends on each locality because the realities are not necessarily the same for everywhere, especially among young people; that’s why we talked about working for the well-being of the community. Nevertheless, we have listed some activities in the document presenting the terms of reference (TOR) in order to guide local unions in the choice of actions to be taken. But let’s remember that it’s 175 minutes or 2h55min of volunteering per person on the day said.
What message can you give to young people in local communities?
To all young people and adults in local communities, I would say that the YMCA World challenge is an event organized by the YMCA but not only for the YMCA but for everyone, hence the notion of including other local associations in the actions to be carried out for the good of our communities. And this Challenge is also an opportunity for us to promote the objectives of sustainable development and to consolidate the links of peace, national unity, living together and social cohesion between the different layers of society.
Thank you for your answers and we wish you success in your mission
We thank you for granting the highest importance to what we do. May God strengthen us in the mission and give us by his grace to achieve the objectives set.
